Use a Mortise chisel cutter with the correct size pilot to sharpen the chisel. Two or three turns of the cutter in a carpenters hand brace should be enough to sharpen the chisel. Remove any burrs from the outside of the chisel with a fine oilstone. Chisels and bits will need replacing when they become badly worn and difficult to sharpen.
